ASEREWA SIKA NSUO
Long have I lived
In the darkness of a lonely night---
I shiver under the cold of fear
Despair rains tears
On my sadness smeared face
After the star
That used to be brightest
Dimmed down without
A farewell kiss
Long have I lived with
A wounded heart
Suppurating with the gore
Of painful flashback
Long have I lived
Writing poems of withered roses
And fermented palmwine
With the tears
That flood my face
And the gore that overflow
In my heart
Long have I lived
Dancing to the song of owls
And mosquitoes
Since the dove who
Dwelt in the cage of my heart
Fled with her melodious coos
Now I see in the sky
A golden moon showing
Up to clear away
My lonesomeness
With her light brighter
Than a billion stars
I've felt her caressing warmth
Eating away the tormenting cold
Hope has attended to
My face with tools to drain
Tears and dig indelible smiles
My wounded heart
Awaits her touch
To be woven
Into her peaceful nest---
She my Aserewa Sika Nsuo
